VMware 7 End of Life

VMware 7 reaches end of life on 2 October 2025. This means no more official product support, security patches or updates after this date unless customers with VMware move up to the latest version, VMware 8. VMware customers who do not take action will be vulnerable to new security threats and any bugs or issues discovered after 2 Oct will not be addressed. Running unsupported software exposes your business to increased security risks and may lead to non-compliance with regulations. Without support and updates, you also face a higher risk of system instability and potential downtime.

Options for organisations using VMware 7:

  • Upgrade to VMware 8 to maintain full support and leverage new features.
  • Consider migrating away from VMware – with Broadcom’s shift to a subscription-based licensing model and the end of perpetual licenses, some businesses are exploring alternatives to VMware because of the large cost increase such as:

Microsoft Hyper-V – a solid option if you still want to keep things on-site.
Cloud Hosting – we can look at our Connect Systems Private Cloud or Microsoft Azure.
SaaS (Software as a Service) – plenty of systems now run entirely online, so you might not need to host servers for them at all.

Now is the time to weigh up your options and start planning your next steps to avoid any unnecessary disruption to your business. Have a chat with your Connect Systems Account Manager or get in touch with us here and let’s figure out a plan that keeps you secure, supported and cost-effective going forward.
